Welcome to Teach India 2009. Following the tremendous response to The Times of India’s unique initiative last year, Teach India 2009 brings you the opportunity again to go out and teach young children with the guidance of a multitude of NGOs across India .

Teach India is a social initiative from the Times of India that brings together children in need of education and people who can contribute a little time towards teaching them. It is based on one simple principle: If you have the desire to teach, we will put you in touch with underprivileged children who are willing to learn. With esteemed and worthy NGOs already supporting our cause, we now look for selfless individuals to come forward and help change the future of a child forever.
To sharpen focus and reduce lag time, key elements have been introduced to Teach India 2009 in order to optimise the programme’s main feature - that is to serve as a link between those willing to teach and those looking for such teachers, our partner NGOs.
The month-long drive invites applications exclusively online via the Volunteer Application Form. Each participant will need to register with an individual username and password. They will then have to select their preferred teaching location basis which the applicant can choose their induction centre, day and time. Streamlining the process of placing individuals with NGOs, applicants are requested to keep in mind that at a given time, NGOs will need a specified number of teachers. So, we request early applications to avoid a long wait.
Induction sessions and dates initimated upon submission of the volunteer application form are sacrosanct and will not change. The induction sessions are compulsory for interaction with the NGO and to map individual preferences with NGO needs. Please note that no applicant will be given a second chance to attend an induction.
