Help for Orphans International is a non-profit organization which provides superior education facilities and materials for orphans around the world.
Our overall purpose is to elevate the well-being of orphans and empower them to succeed in whatever endeavor they choose. We provide an exceptional learning environment, along with educational tools that bring out the natural ability in our students, as well as give a firm grounding in the basics necessary for self-sufficiency. We are helping orphaned children help themselves. We firmly believe education represents a powerful tool for generating jobs, improving incomes, and expanding the opportunities available to these orphans. Our focus is on helping to create self-sufficiency among orphans by supplying the orphaned children with a basic education as well as teaching sustainable agriculture.
By providing our curriculum to already established schools as well as creating new schools for orphans in areas that have few educational resources, Help for Orphans International improves the lives of as many orphans as we can support and reach. In addition to the state-of-the-art phonics, reading, life and study skills courses that are easy to teach and self-paced, we also train teachers to create a specific curriculum to provide their students with skills that are relevant to their community.
In many of the orphanages we reach out to, certain basic needs have to be met before we can begin the educational process. Help for Orphans provides food, clean water, vaccinations, clothing and other needed supplies in order to establish an effective learning environment.
Having already begun building schools and assisting orphanages in India, South America, Uganda and Kenya, Help for Orphans International intends to expand as rapidly as possible in order to meet the needs of as many orphans as we can reach. The rapidly increasing numbers of orphans, particularly in Africa and other countries hit hard by recent natural disasters, create a tremendous need for assistance. Please help us by making a donation. We will utilize it effectively in order to create a sustainable solution for these children.
An interesting thing has happened with this blog I wrote over a year ago. It has become a Google hit. When you type in "Delhi orphanage" - it comes up first.
A lot of compassionate Indians and Americans have offered to help. We have a hard time keeping up with them, which is why I'm writing this blog - to give people a more comprehensive report on what's going on with our orphans in Delhi. Here are the stories of a few of the orphans. Anyone interested in helping should email Wilson Bunn directly at wjbunn@gmail.com. Many people have asked to help in the comment section below. I can no longer respond to them, but Wilson can. We do not do adoptions and cannot take one-time visitors to the orphanage. God bless you.
HOPE HOUSE
Our children come from poverty stricken slums, outcast leper colonies, and homes of prostitution. Many of them are orphaned or abandoned. They have not been cared for, provided for, and held no hope of an education. By God's power each of our children were brought to the doors of the Hope House.
Once admitted, the children are provided with clothing, soap, toothbrushes, and lots of love! They are assigned to a small family group which is cared for by a staff member. Our children range in age from two years to sixteen years; we are committed to caring for each of them until they can support themselves in the plans the Lord has for their future. The Hope House is not really an orphanage; we consider it a family. We love our children, care for our children and discipline our children in order to be an example of the family of God.
The Staff The staff each received the Lord's calling to provide a home for the hopeless and forgotten children of India long before they were united in marriage.
The house "Dad" - Pastor Paul* started his ministry as a worship leader to a music group that brought songs of praise into unreached villages. While he was a full-time manager of Emmanuel Children's Home in Delhi, he was a student of Emmanuel Bible Institute.
At the age of sixteen, his wife Sarah* attended Emmanuel Bible Institute and started her ministry work by living in a leper colony. She has worked in many leper colonies and slums, as well as ministered to prostitutes and street children. The Lord brought them together when he called her to work at Emmanuel Children's Home. Together they sought God's plan and direction to fulfill their calling. In January 2007, the Lord's timing had come for the Hope House to begin.
The Vision
Beyond being a children's home, Paul and Sarah understand God's purpose to use the Hope House as a ministry to reach out to the unreached villages of Hariyana, India.
Already our temporary dwelling has reached its maximum capacity as home to twenty-three children and 7 staff members! We hope to be able to move the Hope House into the midst of unreached villages where more children of labor and exploitation can be reached. This area will also provide the opportunity to reach out to the mothers and fathers of the villages.
We have a dream of starting Children's Village of Hope - home to an orphanage, school, Bible college, rescue house, and elderly home. We have great faith that the Lord will provide land for the new home of the Hope House in His own time and way.
The children and staff lift up this prayer request every day!

My name is Flora. I am six years old. I am from a very poor Christian family. I have three sisters and one brother. We lived in a large, Delhi slum. My mother is a house servant and my father is a laborer, so they could not provide for our family.

I would not go to the potty, get dressed, take a bath, or even ask for a second helping of food. Now, I am so comfortable in my new home, and I am a big help to my staff leader, Brother Brij.
